Curcuma parviflora

Curcuma parviflora is sometimes listed as "Angel". It is a cute little Curcuma, growing to only 1 ft. tall in part shade. The coma bracts are white and are extremely long lasting, holding their color and shape for as long as a month.Curcuma parviflora is usually rated as hardy to zone 8, but I usually lift the rhizomes in fall and store them in slightly dampened peat. Last winter I accidently left a few outside and they came back just fine from winter temps in the low twenties. If you choose to do so, make sure the soil is well drained or the rhizomes will rot during dormancy.Grow Curcuma parviflora in very light shade or filtered sun to part sun, maybe 3-4 hours direct sunlight. It should be planted in very well drained soil with ample organic matter and kept evenly moist but not saturated. Of all the small Curcumas, this is probably the easiest to grow. It would be suitable for use in colder climates as a potted plant, stored indoors during dormancy.
